New metrics for Golf Advisor

Golf Advisor has become an integral tool that helps course operators stay aware of customer satisfaction in the form of ratings and reviews. With the growth of Golf Advisor over the last several years, more and more golfers—from new players to veterans of the sport—are using the site to share their thoughts and find the best places to play.

In order to ensure that Golf Advisor provides the most accurate and useful ratings and reviews for your business, we are implementing a new logic to ensure that the ratings better reflect your efforts, improvements and more.

While many sites aggregate all reviews and produce a simple rating from that number, this “all-time” average does not take important factors into account. For example, a recent upgrade or management change that has improved your course might be reflected in the most recent reviews, but the hundreds of older reviews would outweigh those high ratings.

GA-ReviewSystemBy shifting to a “Golf Advisor Rating Index,” recent reviews will have more importance and a higher value than older ones, which will better reflect your continued efforts to provide golfers with a truly memorable playing experience.

Our new index gives golf course operators like you more credit for your efforts, as well as ratings that genuinely reflect the work you do every day. And it creates more opportunities for new golfers to help your course climb the rankings and be discovered by players from around the world.

Golf Advisor is on a roll

Rapid growth in 2017 for golf’s leading ratings and review site—Golf Advisor—has resulted in five consecutive months of record growth, highlighted by all-time records across several key metrics in June.

Golf Advisor’s page views in June topped 1.5 million, surpassing the previous record from May 2017, and they were up 48% year over year. Other traffic metrics in June also surpassed the previous month’s records, with visits up 67% and unique visitors up 71%. Since February, at least one key monthly metric has surpassed the previous as the best ever.

More than 600,000 golf course reviews are currently featured on Golf Advisor; reviews and ratings that help golfers choose their next course and provide course operators with valuable information about the likes and dislikes of their customers. Unlike other review sites populated by industry insiders, Golf Advisor reviews are posted by golfers, for golfers. More than 85 percent of the half-million golfers visiting Golf Advisor each month state that reviews are important to making decisions about where they play.

Power of the review

Golf Advisor set yet another milestone in March, which now ranks as the best month ever for golf’s leading ratings and review website. For the first time, more than a half million unique users visited the site in March, with the record number of page views exceeding 1.3 million.

If current trends hold true, this milestone may be short-lived when final numbers are released for April. At least one key metric for the past two months has surpassed the previous as the best ever.

Additionally, the volume of reviews continues to grow at a rapid pace. So far this year, golfer reviews have out-paced the same time period in 2014 — Golf Advisor’s best performing year to date — by more than 20%.

Golf Advisor set another all-time record in February, proving golf’s #1 ratings and review website is becoming an increasingly important information source for golfers on the lookout for a great courses to play. Golf Advisor closed the month with the highest number of page views ever for any month since its 2014 launch. Year-over-year increases also were impressive, with page views up 18%, unique visitors up an impressive 38%, and total visits up 36%.

Thousands of your fellow golf course owners and operators from around the world descended on Orlando, Fla., for the 2017 PGA Merchandise Show, which provided an unmatched opportunity to meet with manufacturers, suppliers and service providers. More than 40,000 industry professionals spent the event exploring the offerings from over 1,000 exhibitors packed into the 1-million-square-foot exhibition space.

GolfNow was right in the mix, offering demos and presentations about our latest technologies and services designed to maximize your efficiency and profitability. The GolfNow Business team held more than 200 meetings during the event, in addition to helping Golf Advisor announce its anticipated list of the Top 50 Courses in the U.S. live on Golf Channel.

Additionally, with its stage next door, we were able to work with Golf Channel during the Show to arrange interviews on Morning Drive with several of our key partners, including Billy Casper Golf CEO and Chairman Peter Hill and Longitudes Group President and Owner Sara Killeen.
