Setting Up Quick Items

When you add new items/SKUs to Inventory, POS buttons are auto-created underneath the Items by Department tab found on the POS.  For easy access to more frequently used items, you can manually create POS Quick Item buttons.

Quick Item buttons can hold one or more SKUs. You can put Quick Item buttons into folders with similar items, or put them directly on the POS interface as “one click” buttons.

In the POS Quick Item grid, first-level items have a yellow background. First-level items can hold other Quick Item Buttons or function as a “one click” button. Item folders have a gray background and are always linked to a First level folder or item.

Adding Quick Item Folders

  1. On the Management Menu, click POS Quick Items. The Quick Items Designer page appears.
  2. From the Store drop-down list, select the store to which the new item folder will belong. Selecting “All” creates a Quick Items folder in all stores.
  3. Click the Edit link beside the Folder field on the upper left corner of the page. The Define Folder for Quick Buttons page appears with all the item folders displayed.

    NOTE
: An item folder can group similar items together OR for more popular items, it can function as a single button. Once on the POS, clicking on an item folder will either display all the individual items in the folder (where they can be selected for purchase) or it will automatically bring a single item to the POS for purchase. For example, an item folder could be created called “Canned Soda.” Once clicked, it could display the following items available for purchase: Diet Coke, Sprite, etc. However, a more popular item such as Coke could alternately be defined as a first-level item (not within an item folder). It would then be displayed on the first level of the POS and could be clicked with a single touch for purchase.

  4. To create a new item folder, click the Add Item button on the upper right corner of the page.
  5. Enter the item folder title on the Folder Button’s Title field.  This is the title that will be displayed on the item folder button on the POS Quick Item grid.
  6. Enter the Sort order of the item folder. This determines where the button appears on the POS Quick Item grid page.
  7. Click Save to save the new item folder.
  8. To edit an item folder, click the desired Folder button title on the list. Edit the Folder Button’s Title or Sort field as desired, then click the Save button to save the changes.
  9. To delete an item folder, click the desired Folder button title, then click the Delete button.
  10. Click Exit to return to the Quick Items Designer page.

NOTE: All item buttons defined within an item folder will also be deleted when an item folder is deleted. To make these items available on the POS Quick Item grid, either define them again in first-level buttons or include them in other item folders.
