How to Setup Coupons

In this tutorial, you will learn how to setup coupons.

Coupons are printed from the receipt printer when a trigger item is sold. The coupons can be printed with a barcode that, when redeemed, is scanned in the shopping cart to enter the item used for redemption. Example, a coupon is setup to issue a free range bucket when a customer purchases any golf club. The barcode on the printer, when scanned, bring up the item “Coupon – Free Range Bucket”.

Create Coupon Sales Item

This is the item used when the coupon is redeemed.

  1. Setup | Sales Item
  2. Create New
  3. Setup Item to be used when coupon is redeemed. Example: “$5 off – Newspaper”, “$10 off – Email”.
    NOTE: Make sure price is a negative value. See How to Setup a Non-Inventory Sales Items.
  4. Enter price as a negative value.

Creating a Coupon

  1. Setup | Point of Sale | Setup | Coupons
  2. Click Star Icon

  3. Enter description of new coupon
  4. Click OK
  5. From Sales Item drop down, select item to be used when coupon is redeemed
  6. Choose Expiration for Coupon
  7. Enter Text description of coupon to be printed on receipt
  8. Click OK

Tagging Coupon to Sales Item

  1. Sales | Setup
  2. Right Click Item
  3. Click Modify
  4. Select Coupons/UPC Tab
  5. Click checkbox for appropriate coupon to be issued for this sales item

Whenever the above sales item is sold, the coupon will print from the receipt printer after the invoice receipt is printer.

Redeeming Coupon

When customer brings coupon back in for redemption, bring up the shopping cart and scan the barcode on the coupon. This will enter the Coupon Sales Item.
